Acute Traumatic Injury
Traumatic accidents or falls can cause intense cellular trauma along with internal bleeding/bruising, swelling, and muscle spasm. While the Infratonic can be very valuable when applied as soon as possible after an acute traumatic injury, it is often valuable to add ice as described below.
Treatment:
For the first few hours or days after an acute injury, and in cases of chronic spasm associated with whiplash and low back pull, apply the Infratonic 8000 transducer through a gel ice pack for ten minutes, then remove for 20 minutes, then repeat. The coldness slows production of inflammatory chemicals that cause excess spasm, swelling, and bleeding, while the Infratonic 8000 works on reducing cellular trauma. You can also alternate cold with heat and apply the Infratonic through the hot pads as well.

Enhance local circulation: Capillaries dilate to increase the flow of fresh blood to the area of injury. The lymph system functions more efficiently, transporting away excess fluids. Swelling that often occurs with acute injuries and surgery disappears more quickly.

Treatment:

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
Irritable Bowel Syndrome, or IBS, is a common problem affecting the bowel, or large intestine. IBS — also called functional bowel syndrome, irritable colon, spastic bowel and spastic colon — is a syndrome because it can cause several symptoms, including cramping, bloating, gas, diarrhea and constipation.

With IBS, the nerves and muscles in the bowel are extra-sensitive. For example, the muscles may contract much too much when you eat, causing cramping and diarrhea during or shortly after a meal. Or the nerves can be overly sensitive to the stretching of the bowel (because of gas, for example), resulting in cramping or abdominal pain.
Treatment:
Place Infratonic on the location of pain (which is usually in the middle of the transverse colon). When the pain subsides move the transducer along the descending colon until the spasm is gone. Treat area for about 20 minutes daily or as needed for pain. Using the Infratonic on these areas decreases the number of acute episodes greatly.

Reduce pain:
The principal cause of pain is inflammation. When our body's cells become traumatized by injury, surgery, chemical attack, or even strong emotions, they often go into shock, or cellular trauma, and start producing inflammatory chemicals in a desperate call for help. Unfortunately, these chemicals not only cause pain, but also interfere with the healing process.

Relax muscles: The INFRATONIC 8000's gentle, penetrating massage action loosens and relaxes muscles so that your therapist can manipulate them more easily. Treatment:

Quieting Brain Chatter
I may use the Infratonic for a variety of the ssues listed above during a clients massage session. However, at the end of their session I almost always place the Infratonic on C7(boney landmark on the base of the neck). When placed on C7 the Infratonic seems to have a quieting effect on the mind allowing my clients to drift off in just a few quick minutes. Why I Decided to Purchase My First Infratonic

Shortly after I opened my full time practice in 1992, I kept receiving literature in the mail about the Infratonic and how effective it was for pain, inflammation and circulation. (I can't remember if it was called the Infratonic or the Infratonic 2.0 back then.) At any rate I kept throwing these advertisements away, even though it had a 30 day money back guarantee (still does).

In March of 1993, a week before my mother was to have surgery to repair seven hernias (yes, you read that right, 7), I received another advertisement in the mail. I decided OK, I'll order this stupid machine and put it to the test and then send it back because it didn't work as promised and get my money back!

I receive my unit on Wednesday, the same day mom had her surgery. After work on Saturday, my ex-wife and I drove to Illinois to put the Infratonic to the ultimate test. By this time mom was home from the hospital but in bed in considerable pain. Her incision was from her belly button to the top of her pubic bone and really was strange looking. On the right side she was extremely bruised and on the left it was really red but no bruising.

I placed the Infratonic over the bruised area and she slept with it over this area all night long. On Sunday, when she awoke she hollered at me to come look. I was in shock when I saw what this stupid machine had accomplished. Where we had placed the transducer (head) the bruising was completely gone. The bruising away from where the transducer had been placed was changing colors as a bruise does when it is healing. The redness on her right side was completely gone as well. In addition, her pain had been greatly reduced.

On the way out of town on Sunday, we also stopped at my former mother-in-law's house. Martha had fallen on Thanksgiving Day (1992) on concrete steps. She was delivering homemade pies to some friends and like all great cooks she tried to save the pies and not herself. She landed on these steps with her mouth and for lack of a better way of describing her teeth, they were angled back. Her dentist told her that her teeth would straighten up on their own and when they did she'd have to have a root canal.

We placed the transducer on each side of her mouth for about 30 minutes on each side. She did not notice any difference at all in pain reduction at that time. However, on Monday morning as I was entering my office the phone was ringing, it was Martha. She was so excited, because for the first time since her fall she had been able to eat solid food. She had toast, bacon and eggs for breakfast.

My Personal Experience

I have many personal testimonials of my own for the Infraonic but the most dramatic one is the following:

I had open heart surgery in 1998. A year or so prior to having my surgery, a good friend and a client both had open heart surgery. They both relayed to me what hurt more after their surgeries than having their chests split open were their legs where the arteries had been stripped out to repair the arteries in their heart. Comparing

Ultrasound: Is very high frequency (in the range of 100,000 Hz) for use when healing and agitation of subsurface tissue at specific points is desired. To avoid tissue damage from localized heating an attendant is needed. 

TENS: Applies electrical stimulation through the skin to create micro-trauma to the body through direct nerve stimulation. This encourages the brain to produce pain-killing chemicals and to promote local activity. TENS also desensitizes the brain to the pain signals, which makes the brain less sensitive to the body's healing needs.

Pain pills: Pain-killing drugs, although highly effective, work by numbing the nerves and brain. The pain relief comes at the expense of impaired awareness and impeded healing. As the pain gets worse and as tolerance to the drug increases, more frequent or higher doses are required. Common side effects are reduced physical and mental performance and addiction.
