"Touch For Health" "I was introduced to Touch For Health (TFH) at an introductory workshop that encompassed several different massage and bodywork modalities. The purpose of this workshop was to stimulate interest in taking further workshops for a modality of your choice. My first thought about TFH was .....this is voodoo and avoided the workshop specifically for TFH. Over the next year or so, I kept being pulled towards this modality and decided to attend a TFH workshop with an open mind. Since that first workshop I have attended additional workshops about TFH in order to hone my skills as a practitioner. I am proud to offer TFH sessions at Accelerated Wellness and
encourage you to open your mind and seriously consider receiving a 12 major
meridian balance. I assure you it is not voodoo and your mind, body and spirit
will benefit greatly from a meridian balance." Touch For Health, Created by Dr. John Thie , D.C. in the 1970’s, uses simple muscle testing (Applied Kinesiology) as a biofeedback tool, What Is Muscle Testing? Below is great video by Dr. Mark Mincolla that explains how and why muscle testing works. I use this form of Muscle Testing for a variety of issues and reasons including:
“Touch For Health.” Is a simple system that balances the 12 major meridians of the body, (plus the Central & Governing meridians) reducing restrictions and built up stress and increasing energy flow. This naturally increases good health. Today, the practice of Touch For Health draws upon 30 years of Kinesiology, traditional to modern Eastern and Western medicine and several healing disciplines. What is a Meridian? (From the Touch For Health book) Acupressure vessels, or meridians, are located throughout the body. They are the pathways of the positive and negative energy power which carries on some of the communication between parts of human beings. These meridians have been measured and mapped by modern technological methods; electronically, thematically, and radioactively. With practice and awareness they can be felt. There are specific acupuncture points along the meridians. These points are electro-magnetic in character and consist of small palpable spots which can be located by hand, with micro-electrical voltage meters and with muscle testing, when they are abnormally functioning. These points are connections between positive and negative meridians and functions of the body, including the internal organs and muscles. There are 500 points that have been mapped and used for centuries for specific improvements in human performance. The sequence of activating these points depends on the improvement desired. The meridians have been named by the life function with which they seem to be associated. In most cases, this name is similar to the name of a gross organ we're familiar with, yet muscle indication of energy power blockage does not mean there's damage to the organ named. We cannot say that a weak muscle means a weak organ--we can only note that a portion of the meridian energy power flow indicates blockage or constriction. Muscle Testing or Balancing In Touch For Health In Touch For Health, we use muscle testing (Kinesiology) to find out how well energy is flowing within the body. A muscle which tests weak indicates some blockage or constriction in the energy flow. The process we use to unblock the energy and restore balance to the system is called balancing. There is no such thing as a Touch for Health treatment. Instead, no matter what the person has in the way of symptoms, we balance the body energies, and strengthen all of the weak muscles we find; this brings the posture into better balance. Touch for Health does not cure or heal anything. In fact, no "healer" ever heals---it is the body itself which performs the healing process. Each cell contains the complete blueprint for constructing an entire body; in fact, all of the cells in our bodies (except those in the central nervous system) are replaced at least every seven years. Some authorities now believe that all elements are replaced every nine months, and many cells are replaced more quickly than that--cells of the intestinal tract live only 36 hours. Nothing is beyond the power of the body's own healing process. Our understanding is not great enough to know why or even precisely how this process works, so what we do is balance the energy flow and the posture, putting the body in the best possible state from which to heal itself. There are fourteen major meridians. The simplest Touch for Health balancing involves checking one muscle associated with each of these fourteen meridians. Complimenting Therapies:
